At NorCal AirTurf, our mission is to share the exceptional benefits of the revolutionary Air2G2 aerator with turf managers of all backgrounds. We aim to provide effective, noninvasive aerating services that enhance soil health. We believe that using the Air2G2 for aeration, either as a stand-alone method or to complement traditional and liquid aeration practices, will significantly improve overall soil and turf health under any conditions. By relieving compaction and increasing drainage, pore space, and oxygen through forced gas exchange.

NorCal AirTurf was started in 2025 by Clay Wood, who served as the Head Groundskeeper for the Oakland A's for 31 years, accumulating a total of 32 years of experience at the Oakland Coliseum. Over the years, the Coliseum has hosted various events, including NFL football, SuperCross, and MonsterJam, leading to severe compaction and contamination of the playing surface. Clay is passionate about the benefits the Air2G2 provides, which he relies on to maintain soil health and improve drainage in the Coliseum's compromised root zone.
This is a real-life example of how the Air2G2 aerator has performed for Clay at the Coliseum. Following significant root zone contamination from a wind storm during dirt show removal in 2023, even after adding new sand, rototilling, and laser grading, the drainage was still locked up, preventing water movement through the profile. This video was taken at 2 PM on March 29, 2023, just one day before the A's Opening Day.

This picture was taken 24 hours later on March 30, 2023. The Air2G2 aerator literally saved Opening Day. We continued Air2G2 injections on the field until 6pm on March 29, and the rain persisted until approximately 10pm. When we arrived at 6am on March 30, there was no standing water, no wet spots, or soft spots to be found, showcasing the effectiveness of the Air2G2.
The 2021 model, designed for optimal soil health improvement, is based on the 336 platform with 3 probes spaced 36 inches apart. It is a self-propelled, operator-paced unit, allowing the operator to step off the desired length between injections.
Select the deepest injection depth possible without compromising subsurface irrigation and utilities. Utilizing the Air2G2 aerator for multiple treatments at varying depths will enhance soil health improvement and maximize the benefits of the Air2G2

The 2023 Air2G2 aerator is Gen3 A2G2, also based on the 336 platform and equipped with a programmable touchscreen that facilitates machine-paced, more consistent injection intervals. This allows for customization in injection spacing, number of injections, and length of injections, all contributing to effective soil health improvement.
For those looking to enhance soil health, renting the Air2G2 can be an effective solution. The Air2G2 aerator, provides comprehensive aeration with little to no surface disruption and promotes healthy soil. By utilizing such aeration techniques, property owners can significantly improve the overall health of their golf courses, sports fields and lawns.
The Air2G2 creates 3 injection holes for approximately every 72 sq. ft. Repairing the holes is as easy as fixing a ball mark and can be done between injection cycles. With the lack of surface disruption, loss in turf canopy and ball roll, uninterrupted play can resume directly behind the Air2G2 treatments. Most athletic fields and parks show no signs the machine was there.

Along with lateral injection of fresh air, the Air2G2 will penetrate below traditional tine aerification, fracturing compacted soil layers. Allowing more pore space for root growth, more effective nutrient uptake and increased water penetration. The Air2G2 helps tie all of your turf maintenance practices together.

Unlike many golf greens and athletic fields, home lawns are often planted in less than ideal soil with challenging contours. Utilizing an aerating service like the Air2G2 aerator can effectively relieve soil compaction in these areas. This aeration service enhances drainage, water intake, and nutrient absorption, leading to significant soil health improvement and creating a healthier environment for your lawn.

The Air2G2 aerator does not pull cores like traditional aeration services, which can leave behind a muddy mess lasting days or even weeks. Instead, this innovative aerating service takes place below the surface with lasting effects; probes go in, inject air, and come out. With the Air2G2 stop and go design, you get pinpoint accuracy of injection treatments. There’s no mess, no clean up, no dirty paws, and no dirty floors—just effective soil health improvement!
