Our Mission
At NorCal AirTurf LLC, our mission is to provide the exceptional benefits of the revolutionary Air2G2 aerating machine for effective, noninvasive turf care. We believe aerating with the Air2G2, as a stand alone method or to enhance traditional cultural practices, will help improve overall soil and turf health under any conditions, by relieving compaction, increasing drainage, pore space and oxygen, through forced gas exchange.
The Story Behind NorCal AirTurf LLC
NorCal AirTurf LLC was started in 2025 by Clay Wood, former 31 year Head Groundskeeper for the Oakland A's, with 32 years total experience at the Oakland Coliseum. Due to years of conversions including NFL Football, SuperCross and MonsterJam, the Coliseum playing surface has been exposed to extreme compaction and contamination. Clay is passionate about the benefits of using the Air2G2 and has come to rely on the machine for keeping the Coliseum's compromised root zone healthy and improving drainage.
March 29, 2023 The Day Before Opening Day
This is a real life example of how the Air2G2 has performed for Clay at the Coliseum. Due to significant root zone contamination from a wind storm during dirt show removal in 2023; even after adding new sand, roto tilling and laser grading; the drainage was locked up, water would not move through the profile. This video was taken at 2pm on March 29, 2023, the day before the A's Opening Day
March 30, 2023 Opening Day
This picture was taken 24 hours later on March 30, 2023. The Air2G2 literally saved Opening Day. We continued to probe the field until 6pm on March 29, the rain persisted until approximately 10pm. When we arrived at 6am on March 30, there was no standing water, no wet spots or soft spots to be found.
